Our Youth are also Our Future

Chapter 23 of The Prosperous Leader is devoted entirely to Mentoring the Next Generation, and rightly so. As Traci Donnelly explains in her article “A Better way to Bridge the Skills Gap”, the children are our future. “If you give our kids a chance by offering them meaningful internships and apprenticeships, we in the nonprofit sector can, in return, give these interns and apprentices the support they need to succeed. In effect, we can help to insure your investment in them,” she explains.

Traci is a part of The Child Center of NY, a nonprofit organization that aims to accomplish all the important facets I discuss in my chapter on mentorship, and encompasses what I believe in regards to mentoring youth. I feel it’s important to help teach children things like effective problem solving skills, comfort with taking risks, and having a positive attitude toward failure.

With the mentorship attitude and nonprofit organizations like the one listed above, our youth have a chance to truly succeed in their lifetime.
